Aims
The aim of this course is to equip existing auditors of other management systems standards with the knowledge and skills required to perform audits of Social Management Systems (SMS).
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose of a social management system and explain the principles, processes and techniques used for the assessment and management of risk, including the significance of these for SS auditors.
- Explain the purpose and content of SA 8000 and the legislative framework relevant to a social management system.
- Interpret requirements of SA 8000 in the context of an audit.
- Undertake the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up on an audit in accordance with ISO 19011
Profile
This course is ideal for those who have already passed an ISO 9000 or OHSAS 18000 or EMS 14000 Lead Auditor Course. The programme is designed to broaden skills and give a thorough understanding of the requirements of SA 8000 and audit criteria. The course concludes with a two-hour written examination.
