Objectives/Benefits

The purpose of this training course is to provide business continuity professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform first-, second- and third-party audits Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) processes against the requirements of BS 25999-2:2007 conducted in accordance with ISO 19011.

This course is designed for those who have a general background in Business Continuity Management and have a basic knowledge of the requirements of the BS 25999 Standards.

Upon completion of this Course, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of a BCMS including the principles, processes and techniques used for the management and assessment of a BCM system
  • Explain the purpose, content and interrelationship of BS 25999-2:2007 Part 2 and BS 25999-1:2006 Part 1, Code of Practice
  • Explain the role of a BCMS auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an BCMS audit in accordance with ISO 19011
  • Interpret the requirements of BS 25999-2:2007 Part 2 in the context of a BCMS audit
  • Plan, conduct, report and follow up a BCMS audit to BS 25999-2:2007 Part 2 in accordance with ISO 19011 by interpreting BS 25999-2:2007 Part 2

Profile

The objective of this course is to equip delegates with knowledge and skills required to perform audits of Business Continuity Management Systems against the national and international specifications, standards, statutory requirements and regulations using the principles of ISO 19011.

This is not intended to be an implementer’s course, or one that will create an expert in business continuity legislation, or one that will train to an acceptable level a delegate with no prior knowledge of the standard or of business continuity. Therefore, prior to attending this training course, we recommend that participants in this course demonstrate competence in the established Business Continuity Management process, for example the successful completion of a BCMS Foundation Course.

Participants will be graded on the basis of:

  • A continuous assessment of their performance against the Course objectives
  • Their marks obtained in the written examination
