Aims
The objective of this Course is to provide participants with an overview of the purpose and requirements of Social Systems as a tool for business improvement.
The aims of the course are to ensure that participants:
- Understand the background to the Social Accountability/Corporate Citizenship movement in the market and are aware of the ‘drivers’ behind all stakeholders.
- Appreciate the role of nongovernmental organisations (NGO) in the process.
- Are aware of current initiatives; such as the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), SA 8000, Social & Ethical Accounting Auditing & Reporting (SEAAR), the Triple Bottom Line and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
- Understand the role of second and third party verification processes.
Profile
The purpose of this course is to introduce participants to: the social issues and questions facing today’s organisations; the significance of stakeholder concerns; and the mechanisms which are being developed to assist organisations in addressing these issues. The intention of the course is to ensure that participants are aware of the options available to them and their organisations, and to introduce ideas of current best practice.
